The NRG Controls brand was quickly established when the doors to NRG Controls, Inc. opened in 1976 in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, to provide customers with a reputable choice for building controls solutions. In the beginning, the company’s focus was automatic temperature controls for commercial construction projects in central Pennsylvania. Then the company began the transition into pneumatic controls in the mid-1980s until direct digital controls (DDC) became the market’s clear choice beginning in the early 1990s.
Since the company’s inception, NRG Controls has expanded its geographic reach as well as its areas of technical expertise. In the late 1990s, NRG Controls opened an office in the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton market under the direction of Brian Scandle to bring state-of-the-art controls solutions to organizations in both the public and private sectors in central and northeastern Pennsylvania.
NRG Controls North, presently based out of a new corporate office in Selinsgrove, Pennsylvania, has grown to become the region’s premier provider of automatic temperature controls (ATC) and building automation systems (BAS). In recent years, the company expanded its product and services portfolio to also become the preferred partner for state-of-the-art security and lighting controls systems as well as preventative/maintenance services.
The NRG Controls North branch was formally incorporated in 2005 and—through the installation of value-added controls solutions and stringent quality control standards—became one of the region’s leading companies for automatic controls products and services. Jeff Edmunds, a respected attorney in the region, played a key role in the NRG North’s growth by bringing his wealth of experience in contract administration to the company and soon thereafter became one of the principals in 2007.
Recognizing that the industry is constantly evolving due to regulatory changes and technological advancements, NRG North makes a significant investment each year in its employees by providing ongoing education and training opportunities to stay ahead of the curve. The company continues to attract and retain highly qualified engineers, electricians, and technicians, many of whom have received advanced certifications in their respective fields.
NRG North installs flexible controls equipment and software as well as develops products, programs, and solutions for a wide range of applications for our diverse roster of clients, including numerous field-proven solutions in HVAC and facility automation.
